Hardware Installation
| Device Connection: | The 
		 device driver supports up to three Gilson 302/303 Pumps. If several 
		 Gilson pumps are combined in a high-pressure gradient system, 
		 connection is via the GSIOC bus. The bus cable is connected to 
		 a serial PC interface using the original Gilson 605 GSIOC RS-232 
		 adapter cable. (For more information, refer to  
 Support is not available for controlling the Gilson 302/303 pumps via the RS-232 interfaces of the PC (COM ports) or the UCI Universal Chromatography Interface. Always connect the Gilson 605 GSIOC RS-232 adapter cable to a multi-serial 8-fold PCI interface card (8-RS-232 Multi-COM card, Thermo Scientific part no. 5906.2095) instead. | 
| Device Settings: | Each pump has its own GSIOC address (0 to 63). The address is set on a DIP switch. This switch is located inside the pump on the back of the front panel. | 
Software Installation
Install the Device Driver in the 
 Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, 
 refer to Software Installation and Communication

Start the Chromeleon server.
Start the Server Configuration program.
Add the pump to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Gilson from the Manufacturers list box and 302 Pump from the Devices list box.
The following settings are required:
On the General tab page, select a free COM port and enter the GSIOC address.
On the GSIOC and Head Types tab page, define the GSIOC addresses for the Gilson pump as well as the pump head types that are used.
The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.
To control the installed Gilson pump connect the GIL306Gradient.pan Control Panel or any especially developed control panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
