Restrictions:

  • The device drivers are not able to read the parameters set on the instrument. Therefore, set all parameters at the beginning of the PGM File to make sure that the requested settings are used for injection and/or the wash cycle.

  • All GC autosampler models with less than 155 positions: The Ready Check cannot check correct position of vials. In case of a position error, the batch run will be aborted. No error message will be displayed.

Connection:

A free RS232 port and the following cables are required:

  • Connection to the PC: 9P M/F L2500 AS/TRACE (Thermo part no. 23043453, shipped with the instrument)

  • AS connection to the GC: GP.M-DIN M/M l=2m, Thermo part no. 23043577, shipped with the instrument)

Hardware Installation

First, install Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument to the RS232 port on the Chromeleon server PC.

Use the Thermo modem cable (9P M/F L2500 AS/TRACE) to connect the GC autosampler to the RS-232 port.

Use the 6-pin signal cable from Thermo Scientific (GP.M-DIN M/M l=2m) to connect the autosampler to the TRACE GC (2000/Ultra).

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

When the injection is completed, the autosampler sends the signal to the GC, which in turn sends it to Chromeleon. Specify the remote input (GC_INJECTOR) used by the autosampler in the Server Configuration, under Inject Port on the Sampler tab page.
